Reagan May Racing Inspiring Young Women Drivers Everywhere

By Robert Kelly

When someone has a dream that starts at an early age, it often leads to a lifelong pursuit that can bring them many great successes. This driver became interested in the sport at the age of only nine years old, and she has been determined to be the best ever since then. Reagan May racing is one of the great role models for young women everywhere to show them that anyone can achieve their dreams no matter who they are.

May was awarded the prestige of Rookie of the Year for the 2010 SuperPro series when she was 16. At Luxemburg Speedway, she was the IMCA Youngest Winner. In 2014, TUNDRA named her the Rookie of the Year for the Super Late Model.

This driver has earned the prestige of being the second female driver to win a feature event in the entire history of the TUNDRA Super Late Model Series. This is not only an achievement that adds to her own personal success, but also has the chance to inspire countless other drivers out there. One can only wonder how many young female drivers will follow in this one's footsteps.

She was born to a family of racers, so it seemed to be her destiny from the start. She grew up competing against her brother, Parker, who is also a driver. Their father, Kip, is also a driver, and their mom is always there to help out in the pit.

In addition to her experience and involvement as a driver, she also has attended Michigan Technological University. There, she studied and got her degree in Mechanical Engineering. This gives her a leg up on the competition because she is able to solve car problems as they happen.

Anyone who has been able to achieve widespread success in this sport is worthy of looking up to in May's opinion. It is challenging for anyone to be able to be successful at it, but she especially looks up to the women who have been able to do so since it is a sport that is so commonly dominated by men. Her father is one driver who she looks up to a lot because of the opportunities he has given to her and his legacy as an SCCA racer.

It can be hard to feel comfortable on every single track that a driver has to race on, and this can present some challenges when traveling to different locations to race. May feels that she is just as comfortable on one track to the next, which is a huge advantage for someone who travels a lot. For this reason, there is no one specific track that she calls her home.

One of the things that she loves the most as a racer is the competitive environment. She likes the way that drivers can be competing against one another on the track, but everyone is all friends when the race is done. She says that all of the other drivers feel like her family, and that makes it all the more fun to compete with them.
