Steps Followed In Car Detailing Lexington KY

By Joyce Sanders

The first step in car detailing is the basic washing and drying. Many people overlook this step due to their ignorance. This stage should be given a high-level consideration because most of these surface imperfections in most cars develop during this juncture. That is because the surface may be scratched and unsightly water spots are also during car detailing Lexington KY.

Before the cleaning, a pre-wash is done. The water is decalcified and all the other water impurities removed as they cause the water spots to form on the surface. A tube of shampoo is then applied with a light scrub on the surface. It is necessary to remove any grease on its surface. The vehicle is then dried by blowing air till dry. A dry towel is then used.

Some of these imperfections that remain after the washing are removed using the clay bar. Application of the clay bar leaves the surface very smooth and glassy. It is worth noting, some of these imperfections removed are invisible to the bare eye. This process must be repeated either once or twice a year.

There are two variations in which the clay comes. It can either be a quick detailer or as a clay lubricant. First, the clay lubricant is used to make the cover with an even texture. It functions to prevent the fall off of the clay bar when it is being applied. A liquid called the optimum rinse off is used at the final stage in this process.

Polishing is the third step in the detailing process. It creates a dramatic effect on the paints appearance. It is done to remove the dull spots in the paints which can be caused by industrial fallout or even oxidation. Washing usually removes the imperfections temporarily but with time the situation worsens. It is recommended to be done once or twice a year during a full detailing.

The buffer equipment is usually preferred in polishing the car as compared to the hand. Hand polishing had its demerits such like the result would be an unevenly polished surface due to varying force. In addition to that, the amount of force applied is a lot hence the whole process is very tiring. Polishing a vehicle twice a year should suffice.

Glazing, an optical step in the detailing process is important in adding a layer of gloss. That is if it is done professionally. It also increases the paint thickness. As a result, it fills up where there are minor imperfections. Caution should always be taken to prevent the waxes and sealants from being washed off. The glazing can be done based on the needs of the vehicles owner.

The glaze should be done only on a vehicle that has gone through the above process and it has been done properly. For the glaze to be uniform, the black finishing pad is best for use. Since glazing is done once and more than one layer cannot be used, for maximum performance a single coat is enough.

Those are the key steps in detailing. There are other procedures done such as coating, layering, waxing, microfiber care, wheel and tire care and the glass care.
