Structural analysis is a branch of both mechanical and civil engineering. This studies about the examination of objects of why and how it fails and also, on fixing them. This might probably occur in two modes, static and fatigue failure. The static failure occurs when an object is being loaded, it will break or it will be deformed. Fatigue failure occurs if an object will fail after performing several cycles of loading and unloading.

Thermodynamics studies about the use and transformation of energy by the use of a system. The principles that are being used by engineers are thermofluids, heat transfer, and energy conversion. Thermoscience is being used for designing power plants and engines, ventilation, heating, etc.

Drafting can be applied by engineers in making product designs and when they create instructions in manufacturing some parts. A draftsman or drafter is a term for persons who are experts in making technical drawings. Computer aided design will allow people to make 3D designs.

Engineers may manufacture some parts by technical drawings. They will do it by using finishes or spray coatings if ever the machine cannot do it. Drafting is now used in many subdisciplines and also in many branches.
